How can I prepare for my first massage visit? Being hydrated before your session is beneficial. You will be asked to complete a new client intake form before your first visit. It is essential to complete this form, as it enables practitioners to assess your needs, identify problem areas, and prepare for your session accordingly. Arriving 5-10 minutes before your appointment to use the facilities and allow a brief consult with the practitioner.
Can I request a particular practitioner for my session? Yes, if you prefer a male or female therapist, please let us know during booking so we can schedule you with the appropriate practitioner.
Do I need to undress? You can undress to your comfort level. A sheet and blanket will be draped and cover you throughout the session. The fewer articles of clothing & undergarmets allow the practitioners to work on that area without obstruction. Generally, if you leave your socks on, the practitioner will know not to work on that area. The practitioner leaves the room to allow you to get settled in before your session. Please be under the sheet and blanket upon their reentry.
Can I leave my jewelry on? Yes, however, removing your jewelry will allow practitioners to work the area without obstruction and no concern of getting lotion or oil on any jewelry.
What is used during a massage? Lotion or Coconut Oil is used during your session unless otherwise requested. Certain tools that may be utilized during a session: warm towels, warm rice bags, vibrational machine, and Theragun. Add-on options: hot stones, dynamic cupping + aromatherapy.
Can I wear makeup? Yes, however, if you are face down in a cradle, this may cause makeup to transfer and may smudge mascara.
How should I wear my hair? You are free to wear your hair however you like. We do offer hair ties if you prefer to put your hair up so that no lotion or oil gets on your hair. The practitioners will ask if they can move your hair out of the way during the session.
Can I have a silent appointment? Yes, if you prefer a silent session, you can tell your practitioner. We play soothing spa music, but we can also play the type of music you prefer. Our practitioners love it when our clients communicate their needs and preferences with us. This is your session, we want you to enjoy the entire experience!
How long should I wait if I just got a tattoo/dermal piercing or had a medical procedure done recently? We ask that you do not book until the area has healed or you have been cleared by your doctor.
What do I need to tell my therapist? It's important to keep your practitioner informed of any new injuries, health conditions, allergies, or changes in medications. Communicating with them if you would like more or less pressure.
Is it safe to get a massage if I'm pregnant? Yes, however, we prefer that you get cleared by your doctor first. After 12-14 weeks, your session will be done on your side with a body pillow. We do not offer deep tissue, hot stones, cupping, or vibration during a prenatal massage. We care about you + baby!
What if I can't lie flat on my back or stomach? We offer a wedge to semi-recline during your session. We also offer a specialized cushion for larger-chested clients that allows you to lie face down more comfortably. A sideline session is also an option. Please communicate with your practitioner so that they may accommodate you the best they can during your session.
Do I need to help during my massage? Unless the practitioner is asking you to actively participate in a movement of a muscle or limb, we ask that you try to fully relax your body and allow the practitioner to take the lead. Do not feel bad for falling asleep during a session; your body is doing what it needs at the moment.
What is the difference between a Swedish Massage + Deep Tissue? A Swedish massage has a more rhythmic style, longer strokes, and is a more relaxing and soothing type of massage with a lighter pressure. Deep Tissue works deeper layers of the muscle, allowing the deeper muscle to release. Firmer pressure is used, you should never be in pain during your session. You will still feel the benefits of the massage. Deep tissue helps ease symptoms of certain chronic pain.
What is a Sports Massage? Sports massage is specifically designed to support movement, performance, and recovery. It targets the muscle groups most engaged in your activities, helping to address tightness, soreness, or imbalances that might arise from repetitive movements. A sports massage is beneficial for both pre- and post-event use.
What can I expect after my massage? Due to the manipulation of the muscles, lactic acid may be released, which can cause lightheadedness. You may feel tender or sore after your massage. It's very important to drink plenty of water after your session. Try not to push your body too much after a massage. We suggest limiting strenuous activities immediately after.
How often should I get a massage? Everybody is different. Depending on your end goals, suggested time frames: Injury or recovery cases, we suggest weekly sessions to help your body during the healing process. Bi-weekly for high-stress jobs or physically demanding activities. 3-6 weeks for overall wellness goals or once a month for monthly maintenance.
Is tipping allowed? Our practitioners gladly accept tips, but they are never expected. You can include a tip on your credit card at checkout, although cash tips are preferred!
